About Betty’s Best Cleaning
Betty’s Best Cleaning isn’t just a business; it’s a love letter to the Comox Valley. My roots here run deep. I am a proud Vanier graduate, and my connection to this community was shaped by stories from my stepfather. Born and raised in Cumberland, he’d tell me about the days of dirt-road mining towns and stealing carrots off the Leungs’ horse-drawn carriages. Through his stories, I learned to love the history of this valley, to value the legacy left behind, and to cherish the community that raised us.
After school, I left the valley for the better part of a decade to work in tree planting. It was grueling, humbling work that taught me a lot about resilience. When I eventually returned, it was after a particularly difficult season—a moment of defeat that unexpectedly became the catalyst for settling back home to start my next chapter.
This community is a far cry from the one I grew up in, and it’s even different from just ten years ago when I was navigating the early days of being a new mother. Like many of you, I have experienced the bittersweet reality of change—the tension between the town we remember and the growth we see today. It is easy to feel the struggle of a changing landscape, but for me, I have chosen to lean into gratitude.
I am so grateful that as this town has grown, so have I. I’ve had the privilege of turning that growth into a thriving business that supports people through all stages of life—from helping new mothers find their footing in those first exhausting years of parenting, to supporting seniors as they age at home. I love walking with my neighbors through their changing lives and circumstances.
